Vincent Messelier (Kortrijk, 6 oktober 1967) is een Belgische kunstenaar, fotograaf en schilder.

Biografie

Vincent Messelier groeide op in Kortrijk. In 2006 maakte hij zijn eerste kunstwerk. Op dat moment was hij nog geen professioneel schilder. Hij combineerde schilderen met werken als manager in zijn kredietkantoor. Later dat jaar nam hij deel aan verschillende wedstrijden en veroverde meteen de ene prijs na de andere.

In maart 2011 besloot hij zijn credit management kantoor, dat hij in 1992 begon, te verkopen en te leven voor zijn passie, het schilderen. Hij begon zijn professionele carrière in Dubai. In november 2011 werd hij lid van 'The Dubai art center International' waar hij zijn werk tentoonstelde en ook zijn eigen kunstatelier had. Hij mocht een luxe hotel inrichten met zijn schilderijen en kreeg positieve reacties en uitnodigingen voor exposities in andere landen. In april 2011 exposeerde hij zijn werk in steden als New York City, Barcelona en Bari. Later volgden andere grote steden zoals Amsterdam en Brussel.

Meridianisme

Hij werd wereldwijd erkend als professioneel kunstenaar en bleef prijzen en referenties winnen in prestigieuze Italiaanse kunstboeken zoals 'the general artworks catalog' of 'Canaletto price' voor 'the artistic career award'. Het ging zo goed dat Messelier besloot om zijn eigen galerie te beginnen in Waregem, een stad in de buurt van Kortrijk. Hij onderscheidt zich van andere kunstenaars door een eigen stijl te hanteren in zijn schilderijen die 'meridianisme' wordt genoemd. Dit zijn de horizontale en verticale strepen en lijnen die in zijn werken te vinden zijn. Het is de correctie van de chaos die hij op het doek gebruikt. Het is een verwijzing naar de meridianen van de wereldbol. Acryl is zijn medium en soms combineert hij met stukken hout, schuim of andere materialen.

Prijzen

Hij won in totaal meer dan 100 internationale prijzen en verscheen in meer dan 40 kunstboeken zoals het boek 'Life Long in Love' van Lulu Wang. Hij ontving ook titels als hedendaagse meester, chevalier-accadémicien en officier-ambassadeur voor België van de Mondial Art Academia in Frankrijk.

Hobby

Vincent is ook een imitator. In zijn vrije tijd maakt hij humoristische schetsen op basis van de karikatuur van de Franse acteur Louis De Funès.
