Title[brontekst bewerken]

Hi. I think the title must be "Tighva", because in the nominative case it's თიღვა /tʰiʁvɑ/ in georgian. გიო ოქრო (overleg) 18 jan 2024 21:32 (CET)Reageren

Gamarjoba Giorgi, thanks for the question. I have deliberated about this when creating this page. I have to come back at another moment (tomorrow, this weekend) to check my reasons. I am currently away and not able to answer this quickly. Labrang (overleg) 18 jan 2024 21:36 (CET)Reageren
The page describes the municipality, not the village/town. I have taken the name from the official municipality registry, which writes თიღვის მუნიციპალიტეტი (Tighvis munitsipaliteti). Or in other words, 'Municipality of Tighvi' (or Tigvi). Also, when the name is taken to English in Georgian sources, it is transcribed as Tighvi/Tigvi. Not Tighva, see for example Civil Georgia (bottom of the page). This is basically the same for Dutch by means of transliteration and transcription. I have guided myself with our transliteration page Wikipedia:Transliteratie- en transcriptiegids/Georgisch. As for the choice of g or gh I have used this guide as wel, which says the ღ should be written as gh. Labrang (overleg) 19 jan 2024 10:03 (CET)Reageren
The village is called Tighva. The municipality is named after the village. According to the rules of the Georgian language, in the genitive case it will be "Tighv-is" not "Tighva-s". In English there will be "Municipality of Tighva" or "Tighva Municipality". Civil Georgia writes incorrectly in this case. გიო ოქრო (overleg) 25 jan 2024 10:17 (CET)Reageren
Thanks for the reply. I understand the rules of the language. For me it is ok to move the page to Tighva (or Tigva, with hindsight we often leave away the extra h,blije in Signagi). I don't think there will be a page for the village. Labrang (overleg) 25 jan 2024 10:47 (CET)Reageren
